Richard Branson, the famous British billionaire said on February 7, 2019 that he would be travelling to space by July in his own spaceship named Virgin Galactic. Branson, the chief of Virgin Group said this at an event to pay tribute to Virgin Galactic at Washington’s Air and Space Museum. He said that his desire is to start his journey on the 50th anniversary of landing on the moon. The entire team is working on the fulfillment of his wish. American Apollo 11 mission reached moon on July 20th, 1969. Virgin Galactic along with Blue Origin is working on sending people to space. The time limit is however few minutes.
These two companies have started on a new business venture were hundreds and thousands of people would be sent to “suborbital” flights. They would not be sending too high to reach the earth’s orbit. These would be way shorter and quite within the price compared to Space X’s mission to send a Japanese billionaire to moon by 2023. For the first time Virgin Galactic had flown 50 miles out of the earth surface was in December 2018. The spaceship of Virgin Galactic named SpaceShip Two is handled by two expert pilots.
For the take off, the spaceship is dropped by the help of a carrier plane much like a bomb. The engine of the spaceship then gets into action and goes straight into the space. The journey is just high enough for people to watch the curved shape of earth. The spaceship then comes back automatically to its return point at Mojave Air and Space Port in California. The capacities of carrying people in one go is 4 excluding the 2 pilots. Branson had previously claimed of making this extraordinary adventure but it never happened. However, this time the preparations have been quite finalized.
